Vanessa Moran, MT-BC, NMT Fellow

Lead Therapist

Vanessa is a Neurologic Music Therapy Fellow and Lead Therapist with MedRhythms Therapy. She is one of the therapists at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital’s inpatient site. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, she earned her NMT Fellowship in 2023, inspired by her passion for both neuroscience and music.

As Lead Therapist, Vanessa provides both internal and external clinical supervision and is deeply committed to supporting the MedRhythms team and collaborating hospital programs. She oversees the student training pipeline for the therapy practice, including internships, and leads the Mid-Atlantic Support Chapter meetings for the NMT Academy.

In 2021, Vanessa launched Burke’s Neurologic Music Therapy program, introducing NMT services to the hospital’s Brain Injury, Stroke, and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) units. With strong institutional support from Burke and MedRhythms, the program has steadily expanded and, as of 2024, now spans the full continuum of care, extending into outpatient rehabilitation services.

In her free time, Vanessa enjoys traveling, baking and cooking extravagant meals, eating delicious food and spending time with her friends and family (usually eating delicious food).
